One brisk morning, the Prince of Teddy Kingdom was riding valiantly in the woods. All was well, until a mighty gust flew up and caused his mount to rear. He fell to the ground, and when he sat up, beheld the most beautiful sight imaginable. It was the Spirit of Autumn, that magical maiden who brought the chill of the wind and splashed the trees with scarlet and gold. She stood, gazing at him for a brief moment, and smiled, vanishing instantly from his eyes. The Prince called after her, but to no avail – Autumn was a free spirit, not bound by the command of king or beggar. He felt a panging ache in his heart when he returned home, but he could not miss her long, for she returned each year, carrying with her the smell of change and the shining colors of the earth.
